BACKYARD OFFICE REQUIREMENTS:

Permit Restrictions

  • Any structure that is not used as a shed must get approval of a Conditional Use Permit by the Planning Commission

  • The addition of electrical will require a building permit

  • No building permit should be required in this case

Setback and Height Restrictions

  • Maximum height: 15 feet / one story

  • Every zone has different setback rules; check specific address


ADU REQUIREMENTS:

Zoning Restrictions

  • All single-family homes are permitted to have ADUs

  • All multi-family homes are permitted to have ADUs

Setback and Height Restrictions

  • Height maximum (whichever of the following is greater):

    • 16 feet

    • the height of the existing primary home

  • Setback requirements:

    • Rear lot: 4 feet

    • Side lot: 4 feet

Other Restrictions

  • Short-term rentals < 30 days are not allowed

  • The total floor area must be > 800 feet

  • No more than 2 detached ADUs on any multi-family lot
