BACKYARD OFFICE RESTRICTIONS:

Permit Restrictions

  • A building permit is required for a structure > 64 square feet

  • The addition of electricity would trigger a building permit

  • Use the following chart to determine if a planning permit is required in your single-family lot:

Height and Setback Restrictions

  • Max height: 14 feet

  • Daylight plane restrictions:

    • Begins 3 feet away from the side property lines at a cross-cutting line 9 feet 6 inches above the average natural grade

    • It slopes inwards at a 45-degree angle

    • There are no exceptions to these restrictions

    • It cannot exceed the 14-foot height requirement

  • The square footage of the structure cannot exceed 25% of the square footage of the main building

ADU RESTRICTIONS:


Zoning Restrictions

  • All single-family homes are permitted to have ADUs

  • All two-family homes are permitted to have ADUs

  • All multi-family homes are permitted to have ADUs

Setback and Height Restrictions

  • Setback Requirements:

    • Side lot: 4 feet

    • Rear lot: 4 feet

    • Any existing structure: 10 feet

  • Maximum height: 16 feet

Other Restrictions

  • Short-term rentals < 30 days are not allowed for ADUs
