No planning or building permit is required for a structure < 120 square feet with no electricity
If the structure exceeds 20% of the properties floor area, it requires a planning permit
Decks < 30 inches above grade do not require a permit
If a slab foundation is required, contact Contra Costa County building departments for potential permit details
If electricity is added, an electrical permit through the Contra Cost County building department would be required
Setback and Height Restrictions
Maximum height: 27 feet
*A shed is defined as an accessory structure under Orinda's Municipal Code

All single-family homes are permitted to have ADUs
All two-family homes are permitted to have ADUs
All multi-family homes are permitted to have ADUs
