BACKYARD OFFICE REQUIREMENTS:

Permit Restrictions

  • Planning permit: not required for units under 8 feet in height

  • Building permit: not required for units equal or < 120 square feet

  • A slab foundation (if needed) would not trigger a permit

  • The addition of electricity would trigger a permit

Setback and Height Restrictions

  • Height maximum: 8 feet

  • Setbacks: none required (if no permit is required), but it is recommended to follow manufacturing specifications


ADU REQUIREMENTS:

Zoning Restrictions

  • The following single and multi-family zoned homes are eligible:

    • R-1

    • R-2

    • R-E

    • R-M

    • RMD

    • OS

    • PC

Setback and Height Restrictions

  • Height maximum: 16 feet

  • Setback requirements:

    • Rear lot: 4 feet

    • Side lot: 4 feet

    • Any existing structure: 6 feet

Other Restrictions

  • Short-term rentals are not allowed

  • Must be > 150 square feet
